This Case study focuses on the three psychological concepts; personality, perception and decision making which are useful in recruitment and selection process and how these concepts can be applied to real work contexts.
In the first part, the concept of personality and its usage in recruitment process have been discussed vividly. Further, it examines how the Human resource management can get benefits by effectively utilizing the personality concept. In reviewing the literature, it is clear that personality tests are the main method of assessing the personal attributes.
In the second part, decision making and perception concepts haven been explored in order to better understand its importance and usage. The assignment further highlights the importance of avoiding biases, stereotypes that the management hold when they make the selection decisions.
As a whole, the assignment sheds light to these concepts with the presentation of some real cases and highlights the importance of proper usage of the dimensions to enhance the overall organizational effectiveness.

Recruitment and selection is one of the important function in Human Resource Management. Recruitment can be simply defined as a process that provides the organization a pool of candidates to choose from. Once the organization develops its recruitment plan, they have pool of candidates to select from, the selection process can be started systematically. The selection process refers to the steps involved in choosing people who have the right qualification fill in the current or future job. The selection process is a sequence of steps. At the initial stage, an organization screens the CVs of applicants to select the best ones out of the candidates’ pool. After that, interviews; both structured and unstructured interviews can be used to assess an applicant. At the third level, various types of tests are useful to assess various aspects of the person. Selection process is very challenging as it takes lot of energy and time to select the most suitable person for a particular job. The new studies have found out that there should be a match between the person and the job which directly affects the performance.
