The case “Indian Airlines” is one of the important case studies which shows how poor human resources management can lead to adverse condition and how it affects the organizational financial status and other aspects. It mainly examines the HR issues faced by Indian airline. The case highlights how poor management and employees high demands lead to lose the monopoly that Indian Airline maintained for a long period before the competitors entered to the airline industry. Some of the other issues that discuss are poor canteen management and excessive payments of allowances to cabin crew.
Further, the case sheds light to the issue of powerful unions of the company as the pilots and other employees use various tactics to get the management of Indian Airline to agree to their demands. At the same time, the case clearly explains how the management’s spiritless efforts to solve the existing issues made the condition worse.

It is apparent that poor HR practices mainly have affected the overall function of the company.
 The pilots and other employees forced the management to agree to all their demands. (their unsurplus method)

 They were went for strikes, go slow agitations and wage negotiations. This again includes pressuring the management to provide higher salaries to them. Altogether there were 13 agitations which were organized by eight unions.

 The pilots again began the agitation demanding higher allowances for those who fly in international sector.
